Background

Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana or S-VYASA is a Yoga University declared deemed-to-be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 vide Notification Number F.9-45/2001-U.3 dated 8/5/2001 of the Government of India.

S-VYASA started offereing the courses apart from regular short term courses and long term courses in distance mode to facilitate the candidtates who couldn’t able to come and do the regular courses. S-VYASA launched Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) in 2007 under Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana. DDE S-VYASA, is offering the courses at different levels.

DDE, S-VYASA was launched correspondence yoga programmes at the Bachelor’s level B.Sc. (Yoga) and B.Sc. (Yoga Education) and Master’s Programmes in M.Sc. (Yoga) and M.Sc. (Yoga Education).

For aspiring yoga therapists, DDE has launched Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Therapy – PGDYT and for Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Therapy for Doctors – PGDYTD, a Diploma in Yoga for Doctors. YIC or the Yoga Instructor’s Course, a mandatory, gateway course which is a basic yoga course is also being offered by DDE.

All the Distance Education programmes were approved by the Distance Education Council (DEC), INDIA on May 31, 2011 itself vide notification.
