Duration:

  • Three years of residential programme, divided into six semesters.
  • The calendar of events in respect of the course shall be fixed by the University from time to time.
  • The examination for the subjects shall be conducted at the end of each semester.

Teaching Methods:
During the first year of the course: Most of lectures, seminars and practical classes take place in the S-VYASA University campus (Prashanti Kutiram). Lecturers are drawn from Ancient texts blended with research, and the courses are organized on an interdisciplinary basis so as to emphasize the interrelatedness of all aspects of the curriculum and move towards the practice of integrated medicine.

Typical Weekly Timetable:

  • During the First year, lectures and practical occupy most of the time with the remainder is free for tutorial work, self-directed study and extra-curricular activities.
  • During the second year, formal lectures are kept to a minimum, to pursue their clinical research and to prepare for tutorials and seminars. Strong academic support ensures that students manage their time effectively.
  • In the final year of the course, students are mostly free which enables vigorous clinical training in various departments of reputed hospitals.

Research Work:
In addition to written and computer-based examinations, practical exam, and submitting practical reports and an extended essay, students undertake a research project as part of their MD course. This is usually in a field of interest of the student, and offers valuable first-hand experience in scientific research and reporting. Students have the opportunity to undertake research in a laboratory within the University or outside the University.
