One-day workshop on “Psychophysiology Relevant to Yoga Research” is jointly Organized by S-VYASA University, Bengaluru and ADInstruments South Asia (India) Pvt. Ltd at Prashanti Kutiram, Jigani on March 19, 2016. Saturday. Objective of the workshop is to give hands on exposure to measurements in Psychophysiology. The main focus will be given to measurement tools relevant to Yoga research.
Dr. T N Sathyaprabha Professor in the Dept. of Neurophysiology, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS). Her Journey in to medical research was a natural process as she inherited a legacy of a family of medical doctors and scientists. She has always been known for her brilliance and energetic persona since her student days. Dr Sathyaprabha has been awarded prestigious Dr Kalpana Chawla young women scientist award from Karnataka and “ICMR International Young Scientist fellowship award-”and had fellowship at Queen’s square hospital, London. Other award for her credits include Sushila Thakur Prakruthi Mandir award twice given by APPI , Sir M Visheshwaraya parisara rathna award by Kuvempu University and many more awards for her research work as co author.
Being an exceptional team leader, go getter, motivated and proactive she has guided several M Phil, MD, MS, DM Neurology, MCh, PhD students to reach greater heights. Her long list of scientific communications, awards, presentations both in India and abroad speak volumes about her endeavors and achievements. Her research work has been translated in to many international publications. She has more than 85 publications which includes national, international journals. Dr Sathyaprabha is reviewer for many national and international journals. She is very keen on serving the society its her hobby. Till today she has attended more than 200 free medical camps in rural areas. With an ‘out of the box’ approach she has played a vital role in exposing the potentials of Holistic traditional health systems like Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy in Neuropsychiatrry disorder. She has documented that Yoga can be used as adjuvant therapy in management of refractory epilepsy.
• Dr. Sucharita S, Additional Professor and Head Clinical Physiology Unit, Saint John’s Medical College, Bengaluru
Dr Sucharita is an Additional Professor and Head of Clinical Physiology Unit, Department of Physiology St John’s Medical college Bangalore. Dr Sucharita has done MBBS from Sri Siddhartha Medical College, Bangalore. Subsequently did MD & PhD in Physiology from St John’s Medical College, Bangalore.
She has received several awards and fellowships which includes International Senior fellowship at King’s College, London, by Physiological Society, UK. ICMR International fellowship award for the year 2007 at National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery, London, United Kingdom, Wellcome Trust-DBT Intermediate fellowship 2014. He has more than 25 research papers in national and international peer reviewed journals. She has given invited talk in many international conferences. Her research interests are muscle physiology, autonomic functions, diet, cardiovascular physiology.
