Overview

Objective of PGDYTD

To orient doctors of Modern Medicine, Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, Naturopathy & Homeopathy, to be able to select the right type of yoga practices for health benefits in different conditions

Objectives

The post-graduation Diploma program in Yoga Therapy for Doctors has been designed with the following objectives.

  • To train students in Yoga Therapy so as to enable the students to become well versed in Yoga Therapy.
  • To explore the possibilities of promoting Yoga Therapy integrating medical practice at conventional medical facilities attached to the institute.
  • To bring all round personality development of the students at all levels of their personality.
  • To produce the Doctors who can integrate AYUSH systems and could work efficiently in the hospitals, wellness centers and yoga centers.

Admissions

  • Admission is open for all those who completed Medical Graduation and YIC* from SVYASA. You can apply online and give the online admission test that will be conducted in Aug and this test will be followed by online interview. Results will be announced on or before Aug 15th. Then onwards the selected candidates will be admitted into the course on filling the required documents and verifying certificates and paying the 1st semester course fees on or before 20th Aug.
  • Those who have not completed YIC from SVYASA, can join YIC ODL (Online) which is starting on 10th June, 2020 which will be of 2 months duration.
  • Entrance examination is completely based on YIC syllabus.

Eligibility Prerequisites

  • Any Medical Graduate Degree.
  • The candidate shall have secured a minimum of 50% marks ( 45% in case of SC/ST) in Medical Graduation
  • Yoga Instructor’s Course (YIC) from SVYASA
  • Those who did not complete YIC need to join for the Online YIC (Two months duration) conducted by Online Digital Learning (ODL) of SVYASA starting from 10th of June,2020.
  • Entrance examination is completely based on YIC syllabus.

  • Become aware of the research advances and developments in the field of Yoga.
  • Acquire a spirit of scientific inquiry and oriented to the principles of research methodology.
  • Become proficient by developing scientific temper and experience.
  • Plan and design a module of yoga for a particular problem when needed.
  • Demonstrate empathy and humane approach towards patients and their families and exhibit interpersonal behavior in accordance with the scientific norms and expectations.
  • Improve skills as a learner.
  • To become well versed in research and improve the skills of carrying research with medical researchers in the field of yoga.
  • Work towards realization of health for all, as a national goal through Yoga.
  • To demonstrate the usefulness of yoga through contiguous effort and encourage a patient to practice yogic techniques without fail.
  • To convince a patient to understand the root cause of problem as yoga believes in the concept ‘identification of a disease is 50% cure.

Duration and Timetable

  • The course shall be of Twelve months duration and total vacation during the program is only of 15 days.
  • Three months of the program will be at compulsory rural training or training at various centers as decided by the University.
  • Completion for three months field training is a mandatory part of the program.
  • During the three months onsite training, their Boarding & Lodging will be taken care by the University. Travel charges to and from the onsite training site, will be borne by the students.
  • The calendar of events in respect of the course shall be fixed by the University from time to time.
  • The examination for the subjects shall be conducted at the end of each semester.
